Considering buying my first XJ. Would love some expert advice.

Friend is selling it. Could probably get it for $1500.

Here is a gallery: http://imgur.com/a/5wVCq

things replaced: 1: Headgaskets and water pump @ 130k miles 2: U-Joints and O2 Sensor @ 159k miles 3: New battery (July 2013) 4: New hood latch assembly (April 2014) 5: Full OEM Brake Line replacement (October 2014) 6: New windshield (December 2014) 7: New radiator, hoses, and accessory belts (February 2015) 8: New spark plugs and distributor wires (June 2015)

The good: 1: The drivetrain is strong and has no issues 2: The interior is very clean, I will clean it up even more before the sale 3: It has a great aftermarket sound system 4: The exterior is pretty good considering the age 5: It was a non-smoker car, so it doesn't stink 6: Minimal rust, during the last visit to the mechanics I asked them about their opinion on the undercarriage and they said it looked great considering its age. You can go crawl under there for yourself if you want too. 7: Service records, I have records of every single thing that I've gotten fixed or replaced on it since I bought it - including oil changes (every 3000-3500 miles).

The bad: 1: The driver's side window motor broke. It will be fixed before sale so it's really a non-issue. 2: The exhaust is a little louder than it used to be, something is most likely loose. Not really a huge issue, you can just get an aftermarket exhaust anyways. 3: Trunk latch is broken - I bought it like that and never fixed it since I never use the trunk anyways. It's apparently a common issue and an easy fix, I just never felt like doing it. 4: Overall wear and tear - it's a 16+ year old car with nearly 180k miles. It's not perfect, but it's pretty clean overall. The exterior has some blemishes and the interior has only one small issue (drivers side seat vinyl is cracked) Regardless, it's not a factory showroom perfect vehicle. It does look pretty good considering its age though.

can anyone comment on the things that need fixing? are they truly easy fixes?

also can this work well as a DD or would i hate my life?

tbh, i don't plan on doing much offroading. just want to get a cheap truck that may last me a couple years.

Thanks!!

If there is no rust .... Sounds like a keeper ...

Sounds like a solid project man.

Don't do it you will be addicted and broke. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I'd buy that for $1500 all day long.
Most of the things that need fixed can be done easily and cheaply. Just visit your local pullapart. The exhaust might cost a little, but not that big of a deal.
