Cherokee to Mod or not to Mod.
This is a great forum, so far I haven't seen any ridicules or nasty responses to questions or advice that are being asked, I hope it stays this way DON't let the JEEP Spirit die. I just finished a mod on my transfer case linkage and in the process did some searching on a Chevy forum, within 10 minutes of searching about three different post I saw nasty and sarcastic replies being made to someone asking for help. I guess they don't like there Chevy's after all.
My first exposure to Jeeps was getting a green army Jeep as a Christmas gift when I was around 4 years of age and I liked them since. My first new vehicle is my 1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 5spd 4WD with 300,000 plus miles, it is stock with two mods that were made for Improvement only. The first was to replace the vacuum control disconnect on the passenger side of the axle with the Pose-lok system, the second was to replace the transfer case Z shift linkage with a direct link.
My second Vehicle (Wife's) is a 1996 Cherokee Sport automatic with 100,000 plus miles. So when my garage door is open you will see two Jeeps. What I love about these vehicle is the ease to work on them and the labor cost savings by not having to take them to some mechanic that may or may not know what he's doing.
I see there is banter (I hope in fun) going on between the OEM purist and the ones who like Jeeps modified. Guys neither way is the right or wrong way, there isn't a Jeep modified or not that I don't like. When I bought mine the plan was to keep it completely stock until I ran into the design flaws. Also I will admit I don't have the funds to do any major mods. Remember the only WRONG way is not to help each other out.
Kudos to all and keep up the GREAT post.

Cruiser54, actually I already did view that link very good post they provide very good information. Yesterday I followed your first post, man what a mess the plug was with all the tar, I will eventually bypass that connector. Thanks for the time spent on the post.

Welcome to the forum. OEM and modders all get along pretty well here. Even the OEM purists (not too many of them but a few) still do SOME mods...even if they don't admit it!

WELCOME to ya.
"it is stock with two mods that were made for Improvement only."
That's where I'm at also. Improvements in the name of reliabilty, performance, and ease of maintainance. Found GOOD ONES here.
