That's funny... I'm glad my Jeep doesn't have airbags, not that I would be jumping my baby anyway.

I have mechanical airbag, just back out a bolt in the steering wheel and its disabled. Just do that whenever I go off the roads.
Video is funny as hell though.

Damn...that worries me. Is there any way to disarm the airbags on a 99 XJ?

had my airbag go off twice. when i heard the loud bang I thought something horrible broke under the jeep, then I noticed the powder in my face.

I have a 1998.

From what I've read on this matter. the only way to disable the driver's airbag in 1997+ Xj's is to disconnect the battery. The bag goes back to armed as soon as you re-connect the battery though.

These can go off if you bump a big rock, or a tree at 3mph.

At least if it get's deployed, I can get a sweet Grant steering wheel.

Hopefully it wont break my arms when it goes off.

On a side note, what can somebody do if the factory leather cover had to be cut off due to rot? Mine has these annoying gaps in the rubber coating. I am thinking of cutting off the rubber, & getting a sew on leather cover.

I think mine don't work. I hit a Saturn with my 98 XJ, and had to replace my front bumper. No air bag though. I put a OR-FAB on it.

I never had one go off on me, but I imagine it would be like trying to catch a 70mph basketball with your face.
