Car audio help

Im a noob with car audio of anything with wires in general.

Right now I have an upgraded head unit and all aftermarket 5.25 speakers an alpine type r 12" sub and a 900watt amp powering the sub. I want to be louder but how do I so it?

jl audio makes legit stuff. Look into a 13W7AE-D1.5 sub. That, or two of them will solve your problems.

You shouldn't need to buy anything to make it louder. Do you want more bass or crisper sound?

Sicandtwisted 07-20-2012 08:07 PM

What exactly are you looking for? More volume, bass, treble?

What do you want louder?
Make and model of amp?
Make and model of speakers and head unit?

RGibbs 07-21-2012 11:30 AM

I want louder and more crisp sound. When I have the volume high and the sub hits it sounds like the speakers are blown. Also I can turn the volume up all of the way and talk over the music.

Kenwood head unit
Alpine speakers
Rockford amp
I'll get the specifics later.

Turn the SLA ( source level adjustment ) up for more volume. Are the speakers amped? Distortion is usually caused by being under powered or improper adjustment

yeah id put a amp on your highs

RGibbs 07-21-2012 01:34 PM

How do you amp speakers?
And if I do that can I add speakers to the hatch and rear doors?

What's the model number? If you have been underpowering your speakers and pushing your head units amp too hard you will send a clipped signal to the speakers and blow blow them over time.

With an amp that I will recommend you when I know the model of your speakers. you can add more speakers, but adding more wont add more sound. You have two right now or four?

I my self am running two 5.25 speakers in the front doors, two 6x9 speakers in the rear hatch, one 10" sub in the rear cargo pocket. (All rockford fosgate punch series) A 1400 watt 5 channel amp under the rear seat. And a Pioneer DEH-90HDD head unit. And it sounds like a concert hall. I'm very happy with it.
