Is there Anyway you can switch a jeep Cherokee from fule injection to a carburetor

Anything can be done. I don't see why not. Plug the injector holes, take off the throttle body and make an adapter to bolt up the carb. You will for sure get a check engine light and tons of codes. my question is why?

Would the normal distributor work with a carb? Meaning is the dist run off of the cam or is it all electrical. I'm an idiot when it come to the electrical side of jeep. Thanks

Why wouldn't you be able to run the stock dizzy? Yes the distributor runs off the cam but why would that be an issue? Changing to a carb shouldn't have anything to do with the cam right?...
Are you modifying your engine to the point you would need to modify the computer and retune it so you figure you should just go carb? Are you swapping a 4.0 into another vehicle and don't want to deal with pulling and running an EFI harness? Do you currently have an electrical problem with your EFI and just dont want to try to diagnose it? These are the only reasons I could think you would even be considering going to a carb... |
Yea you could probably spend a lot of time switching to a Carb setup, it'd only be worth while if it sat atop a 350 small block hahaha...

Nope. The non HO 4.0 in cherokees are still tuned port injection. They use a renix system. Pretty basic computer. No on board diagnostics or real aftermarket tune-ability. The 4.2 engines in older wranglers came with a carb

not that it really makes sense, but you could throw basically all the 4.2 crap on your block. Will take a little work but its been done before.
If your trying to do this as a "cheap fix" for something, your definitely heading down the wrong path. |
Yes, it can be done but it will cost a lot more than you think unless you have the 2.8 model which is already carbed.
