Buying my first Cherokee.
Hey, as you can tell by the title I am looking into buying my first Cherokee. I am looking to spend $2500 to $3500 and buy local, Right now I am interested in two 2001 models. One is a sport and one is not. I was just wondering what one you folks think I should buy.
2001 Cherokee (274,000km) They are asking $2700obo

2001 Sport Cherokee (182,000km) They are asking $3000 obo (Was talking to him can possibly get this for $2500-2600)

Some of you may say obviously go for the lower km one, but I just wanted to see cause 274,000km seems high to me but I know these engines will go for a long time and I generally don't know much about these I just really like the look.

Not many people call it New Scotland, But yeah I live in Nova Scotia, Canada.. There are a few.. That's sort of the reason I ended up deciding I wanted to get one. Not many around and my father used to own one and it was my favorite vehicle of his.

Buy the cleanest one you can find with the lowest miles you can get a fair deal on. A lot of haters say they won't touch a 2000-2001 because of the head, cats, and ignition. I've had zero problems with mine and it's clean enough to eat from. Or buy a rusted out piece of crap and tell us that it is superior to the latest models.

I understand the frustration of buying the right one. I had a sport when I was younger and kept it stock. Drove it into the ground.
Then now, I wanted another to fix up slowly,"not to dang slow", but try and do it right.
Finding the one that would be best was a headache. Some friends said buy a Cherokee sport, some said just make sure it wasn't a grand Cherokee, some said straight 6 4.0 only. It was a pain in my ***.
So living up here in Grundy co. Tn. You will see all types of jeeps. So I decided to go with what made me feel comfortable. In the end I bought a 2000 grand Cherokee limited 4x4 with a v8. It had 175,000 miles on it fully loaded in fantastic condition for $2,700. Some hated it, some loved it.
All I know is at the end of the day, I love driving the crap out of it. It's all stock, but drives like a beast.
You do you, and get what you like.
