I've owned several cherokees over the years, and my latest one I did a budget build on that I wanted to share for anyone that may looking at doing a small lift and how it looks. Here are the details:

1) 2'' body lift kit, $140 on ebay
2) 1'' wheel spacers, $50 on ebay
3) BFGoodrich 255/75r15 (roughly 30 inch height 10 inch width) $400 free ship off desert rat. Goodrich radials. whitewalls inside.
4) Took fender flares off, which gives a more wide/higher appearance - $0

I like this setup as it doesn't effect handling as badly as my old 4.5'' with 33'' tires did. I still get decent gas mileage (18), still capable in winter/mud and I think looks good. Just wanted to share!

No such thing as a body lift unless you bolt the unibody to some other frame like a deep wood redneck for mudding. Budget Boost is what it's called. You can have a lot of fun with a 2" lift with some AT 30s for sure and disconnected sway bars and lockers

OK budget boost then. Anyway it's a cheap way to get some stance on a jeep over stock without going overboard or spending 1000+

These types of kits are super popular. There are better ways to acheive the 2 inches of lift, but these kits are the cheapest.

Which way do you suggest? I looked all over and couldn't find a full suspension lift under 3''

yes it is a very cheap way to get a little bit of height. without changing ride quality.

Kits are lame. I prefer handpicking parts. After winter, I​​​​​​ want a similar ride height with 30s for my stocker without using spacers. Here's the core of the planned setup:

Rancho RS44148 leaf springs

Should be right below 2" of lift. l'll likely throw some Bilstein or OME shocks on and an adjustable track bar. Maybe adjustable control arms down the road. A lot more expensive than what you did and a bit overkill for a commuter, but my stock leafs really don't have the life left to just put extended shackles on. Plus, it's mostly the GFs car and she would hate me if I went any higher

A good plan, but for those of us not too mechanically inclined, my method was nice and cheap and effective.

I suppose, but I fail to understand how a spring swap is any more mechanically in depth than putting spacers and extended shackles on. More time consuming, yeah.

Spacers and shackles are fine, they may not be as good as new springs but there isn't any problems with using them as long as you don't go to tall, 2" is the tallest spacer I would use.
