best lift for a xj?
Ok need opinions on which is the best lift for flexibility and also mud ability if needed I'm doing the d30 and 8.8 4L10 ford axles and thinking of running 35in tires I have a 88 jeep cherokee Laredo 4x4 4.0

It really depends on what you plan on doing with your XJ and how high you plan on going. Long arm(not the radius type) with high steer and a track bar mounted above the axle. Rear triangulated 4 link. Outboard shocks in the rear or coil overs. I don't know I just work here.

Is there a reason for going with the 8.8 rear instead of something like a direct bolt-in Chy 8.25. With that combo you can find more companies offering kits at cheaper prices than for an 8.8.
The Chy 8.25 is almost as strong as a D44 and a lot cheaper for what you want it would be plenty strong to use. I'm running one on 33x12:50's for now with 4.56's, locked and see quite a bit of mud here where I'm at. I'm running stock axles rear 29 spline, front stock D30 locked. Now I'm lifted 4 1/2" on a Rustys full spring/leaf made in the USA and a quality set package and very happy with it. |
id peice together a lift, tends to be a lil cheeper and you end up with an overall better lift
heres my set up Rear: -xj/xj/rc 3" AAl (roughly 4" pack) free from old jeep i had -dodge dakota shackles(1" longer than xj shackles) 40$ i bought new instead of junk yard -H.D. off road shackle relocators(5/8'' lift) 120? i think highly recomended for a decent ride front: -RE 4.5" coils 75$ -1.5" coil spacers free -dukie discos 80 somthing -rebuilt RE upper/lower adjustable super flex arms 140 total -IRO double sheer track bar180 |
Well fi thinkrst I own a explorer lifted with the 8.8 4L10 rear and it's been strong and I've seen a few posts on forums that say the 8.8 4L10 is stronger and holds up better then the Chrysler 8.25, anyways I want to build it to be all around for mud and crawling but mostly crawling since rain is scarce around here nowadays lol, I was thinking 4.5-6.5 lift I just don't know which one to go with and would be best for what I'm going for
