if u were to upgrade your automatic trans what would you put in? what is the best one for crawling?

AW4 hands down....maybe the best automatic trans ever put in a jeep. As for crawling I would swap out my T-case for a rubicon t-case with 4:1 gearing......and its a direct bolt in from what I have heard.

You can beat the pi** outta our aw4s and they will keep goin as long as you keep their fluids well and show them love

It's not. I just saw a write up on doing it up on naxja and there are some differences.

Turbo 400, maybe a 700r4, but it would have to ne modified.

if you wanna crawl, build yourself a doubler using a d300 mated to a 231 and regear your axles.

Theres no point to sway these in unless your running a V8 that need a stouter trans. aw4, T350/400 and 700r4 all have the same weakness: heat. Throw a cooler on it and enjoy beating on it.

that is mostly true. either choise has lower first gear, you can run a little less axle gear and have a better crawl ratio. and keep a little better driveability. of course if it comes down to swapping one of these in, highway rpm probably isnt much of a concern.
Otherwise yes, AW4 is a great trans and very stout. Not much reason to swap one.

i have tha aw4 and as long as u keep it cool and show a little TLC every now and then ur good 2 go
