Is this a ax15? My ba10 blew up so I bought this yesterday from a guy who wasn't too sure what it was but it's a 89 production on the no231 transfer, is a 5spd (went through the gears) and the clutch disk from the ba10 fits the input.





It also had a internal slave. If it is a ax15 what slave should I order? My clutch pack is in good shape but the throw out makes noise. I got everything you see for $250 so I hope I did well.

Yea it does also have the same spline count as the old ba10. The nose for the pilot bushing is 19/32 and the input shaft is 7 1/2" long just like it states it should on naxja and the center is aluminum so I know it's not a ax5. Also the case is 16 1/2" long. There is a silver sticker with blue numbers on it by the shifter as well.

The ba is waaaaayyyyyy lighter and has a split case the ax is heavy ***** I just did this swap and input shaft in the t case is different so get the one from that trans or an auto it's a 23 spline input mine went together smooth you will also need the cross member it is different and it will be moved back to the rear holes on the frame you will have to tape them to what ever size fits. That was the hard part in mine I have a drop welded in and I had to cut that out. I also did a sye and my shaft wouldn't fit I got one from the scrap yard to drive on but I will have to get a new one made. My ba was bad I had clutch chatter and slippage and noises now this the junk yard ax it's amazing nice take offs quite couldn't be happier.

It could be. If it came from behind a 4.0, yes. If it came from behind a 2.5, it's an AX-5. If you don't know then stick a magnet on the ring that mates the front and rear halves of it. If the magnet sticks it's an AX-5. From here though it certainly looks all aluminum!

I checked case measurements on nodak and tried hitting it with a magnet and it only stuck to bolts. It'sa early ax15
