Average Coolant Temp and Oil Pressure

So what re you guys running as far as temp and oil pressure. I just swapped my cluster and was just trying to figure out if my temperature especially is average.

Its summer and I live in Florida and always have the air on Max.
Average in town no highway: 215
Average highway: 220-225
Immediatly after getting of the highway: 235-240. It usually doesnt touch 240 but if it does it is only for a second.
City driving after highway: 220

Oil Pressure:
60 on cold startup
30 at idle
35-40 in town not idleing
40-50 highway

Just wondering if these are about average. The only thing I am somewhat concerned about is the temperature. I have replaced basically everything in the cooling system except the radiator and overflow bottle. Literally, Everything, So am I still running marginally hot or is that about average.

Ok so basically I am running hot. At least it isnt actually overheating like it was.

no your not overheating jeeps typically run at around 195-210 your really not overheating till you hit bout 240ish then i would start looking for a cause and solution

Mine is constantly at 210 on the gauge. Doesn't matter whether I'm on the highway or in the city.

My oil pressure is pretty much the same as yours.

I dont have the money to pay for anything right now anyway. Its just that I have basically replaced everything already. Except the radiator.

well i would just drive it as long as the temp never goes above what it does.

your oil pressure is spot on!

WOW!!! Alot of hot running XJ's on here...

Mine runs, atleast 30-40 degrees cooler, than all of yours....???
Even on 90+ days...

Oil pressure for mine is at the first 1/4 marking at operating temp.

I run a constant 200, sometimes climbs to 220 in heavy traffic.

Oil pressure is always about 35-45

what have you upgraded or changed in your cooling system to make it run so cool? cuz wouldnt 30-40 degrees cooler mean your consistantly running about 180-200 tops?

I bet if you took your radiator apart, youd see 80% or more of the coolant rows clogged. Ive seen only 7 or 8 lines that could flow out of near 100 lines(2 core). with the symptoms youve described, rod that radiator out, or get a NEW one. Also the crappy plastic cap on your fill bottle should be checked for tightness.

Mine has had some heat issues ..... I put a 180 degree stat in and new fulid temp secsor and had it flushed ...

and I am running about 210 + or - so I guess I am in the right range .

good to know

norcal_redneck Jul 18, 2010 12:25 AM

I'm usually crusing around 210 maybe 200, california 100 degree summer in full force right now though. I'll see what fall/winter brings. My oil pressure jumps between 35-45
