Anyone ever try an OBDII bluetooth adapter?

Anyone have or have tried any of these? They're all over Amazon and eBay with various reviews.

I just bought that same one a couple of weeks ago. Using it with Torque Free. Its awesome. So much cheaper than a generic scanner and capable of more. I haven't even bout Torque Pro yet. Probably will since it's only $5.

The only issues I've had was pairing it with my phone after pairing it once before. Had to forget the connection and redo it. I think it was the phone though. It worked fine without a hitch on mmy Galaxy Tab thing.

How detailed is the information it gives you? For example can you track down a misfire to that specific plug(s) and things of that nature?

I had one, it doesn't work well. It worked maybe a month or two and then completely stopped working. If I was going to do it again id spend the 100 and get a quality unit. Torque is an excellent program but its no where near as good as a dealer scanner.

I think the scanners a dealer has cost a bit more than $100.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I only have the free version. Maybe on pro. But I know the information torque gets is only things that your PCM gets.

Do you happen to remember which one you had? There's like a gagillion of them floating around for sell on the web, some seem to be review favorably while some others are not.

They are nearly all the same thing. I had one of the generic chinese ones. I think I got it from amazon. They are built using the same chips and that's the problem. Its the blue tooth chip that fails, because its a cheap knockoff. I looked into building my own.

And yes I know the dealer scanner is much more then 100, I said that to place its capabilities. It pulls info from the ecu and is able to display more then a code scanner, but no where near as much as a dealer scanner.
