Default anybody fabbed a 3rd row seat on an XJ ?

My mom is coming down with my little brothers and i don't have enough money to buy a new car to drive them around, I want to see if any of you ever fabbed a 3rd row seat on 2dr XJ, my brothers would be able to jump back and sit so no problem with that, i was more intrested on the once that go on each sides and not the one that is wide, hard to explain but i meant two single seats across from each others in the back. I figured since there isnt a lot of space on the back, those would be easier to put in there considering they are smaller in size
now the questions are:

1- any body attempted this before and has pictures or tips.

2- what is the best car to take those seats from (was going to go to a junk yard and look at the trucks like the silverado's with the 3 doors or some trucks laying around)

3-any advice in general

thanks guys

How about this? It's DOT approved and everything.

looks good man, but i was looking for a cheaper route, i doubt those would be less than 300, specially that they re brand new, not saying its not a great idea and i ll consider it if nothing else worked

Just keep in mind there isn't going to be much if any headroom. Also that once you do put third row seats in the passengers in those seats pretty much become the crumple zone.

backward facing YJ/TJ rear seat would work. Jump seats from an ext. cab ranger or s-10 would probably work too. Nice thing about the jumps seats is they're small and compact when not in use.

Mazda used the same in their trucks since they just essentially rebadged the rangers.

I would think Jump seats would be easier to secure to the body safly, especially in the rear, but I would think that a seat out of a YJ, (older then 1995) would work as rear facing, and you can probably use the same mounting locations with a custom braket as the factory seats....

Same with the seat belts......

Kind of a useless site, no info at all. But look at the boy's face in the picture, he looks like he is planning a threesome.

My dad always had me sit on buckets or lawn chairs back when we had the conversion van.

Rather than 3rd row, I just strap extra passengers to the roof rack.

Nice job on the install, almost looks factory but could the seat have gone on the passenger side so you could keep the spare?

What about just adding an exo skeleton for saftey to take that concern off the table, as far as a safari type that would be cool, theres a video on YouTube of an xj that's converted to a soft top/ topless via velcro, so that could work make extra fab work. Or you see those xjs with storage compartments you could always make some sort of box and a indent for a small seat for 2 small kids or 1 adult and basically pad it and make your own that way you have some sort of good highth and leg room
