A couple weeks ago i went out to a local junkyard to pull some spare axles for my dana 30 since im running 35's but i called my buddy and he said some of the 96 or 97-01 dana 30's come 29 spline so the older 27 spline wont fit...is he right or wrong?

I searched around and some people say they are all 27 spline and some people say they arent sure and some say they came 29 spline...does anyone have correct straight forward answer?

also my xj is a 98

all d30 are 27 spline. pre-96 c8.25 had 27 and 97-later c8.25 have 29. maybe thats where he got his confusion.

also a little off topic but the bolt on rear dana 44 came 30 spline right?

yes and just for SnG's the d35 has 27 spline shafts

also one more question, whats the best axles to get as a spare? i also heard/read a certain year came with bigger u-joints

are the axles different from low pinion and high pinion?

Not really the shafts are the same besides the u joint difference. The LP HP difference is in the ring gear/pinion setup.
