How do I check it man there is a casing on my diff cases tht has numbers but I don't think I can make em all out

thanks, Im not positive but I think it should say on the axle or possibly in the owners manual but that might just show you several options available. I know you can tell by the shape of the housing as well. You could just google that and then go take a look.

Why is it worthless many people run 35's on a d30?

Then maybe its just my gearing Idk wat its exactly at I've never messed with it I really think the 8.8 is a good deal

This is a pic someone else put up but just compare these covers to your and that's what you got.

Since you have a 98 I believe you have the 8.25 29spline in the rear which is comparable to a dana 44. You also have the high pinion dana 30 in the front which is also very strong, if you beef these axles up a bit you should have no problems running 35's. My 99 has these same axles and I plan on running 35's this summer.

[QUOTE=esteem;832203]4.5 inch lift, trimmed fenders flexing out with 35x12.5 tires on it....It works. Crappy cell phone pictures but you get the point.

well i gues if you cut your fenders real good you could manage it but from the looks of his jeep i would have to say his is a 6inch.... ^^^^^ i think your jeep could probly flex out better with 33's

i have a d30 front and a 8.25 both work great 3.73 gears... the front needs drives side u joint thats all... i want 150 for the PAIR.... and if your not sure about your rear end if you have the 8.25 just look at it... its huge compared to the d35... the actual tube and pig size is bigger then a dana44... i sat one side by side and the tube size is a 1/2inch bigger... so when you look at them you can clearly tell... the d44 is just 2 splines bigger in axle size axle size

My last set of 35s were practically worn down to 33s by the time i got rid of them and your right, it does flex better but I enjoy the extra clearance of 35s. I was also debating if his was 6in lift or not and its hard to tell from comparing his too mine. The most recent picture i have has 3 people in the back and a bunch of tools so the back end is sitting a lot lower than when I look at his.

i would defiantly have to say its a 6inch.. after having my old xj with a 6inch with just 32's that looks to have about the same clearance between the wheel and fender sitting flat on the ground.. my fenders wernt cut though.. that could possibly be a 6.5 it sits pretty high and the fenders aint trimed a whole lot from the looks of it
