97 XJ Price

Hey everyone. I'm considering joining the Jeep world and looking at XJs. I'm trying to get a feel for value and prices. I found this one near me, but not sure on the price. Is this a reasonable ask for this example? Assuming there are no hidden issues of course.

Many thanks

I wouldn't. Not really sure about what goes on in Pittsburgh though. Couple months ago somebody was selling a '99 near me with about 98K for $6K. Looked nice in the Craigslist posting. I even thought that was a little much. But then again I am cheap. LOL.

It is a little on the top end of its price range, but not outlandish for a rust-free example. Anyone looking for a project starter will happily pay a rust-free premium because it could chop 100s of hours of work and broken parts off the project. With a little wiggle room for negotiation, I think it is about right and would list for about that much where I am (maybe a little less). It would probably go to the first motivated cash-in-hand buyer for between 3500-4000.

It's the "rust free" part that caught my eye. I'm going to go take a look and drive it on Monday. With my "what to watch out for when buying an XJ" list in hand. I'll report back here after.

That thing has been on Craigslist for months. He definitely has not priced it to sell.

When I tried to sell my rust-free 99 in upstate NY, I initially listed it for $5k. I got very few bites. I dropped the price a few weeks later to $3k and my phone blew up. I'm glad I sold it to a friend because I eventually got to buy it back, but this was also two years ago. The market for these things is blowing up!

That is a nice overland/daily driver set up, I'll give it that. I'd be okay maybe spending $4k for it depending on how it drives.

Scrape on one side, cracked windshield, and 280k with most of the drivetrain replaced? By who, with what, and did they do it right?
Sorry no. I am just not seeing it.
