97-01 cargo area panel insulation
Just wondering if one of you kind members could post some pics of the backside of the cargo area panels so I can reinstall the insulation on my panels. To me it’s not very obvious of their orientation. Thanks much. |
First is the passenger side rear in my '00. Second is the hatch. Figured I would throw it in. I don't have a shot of the driver's side but almost positive I have one in spare parts. Assuming the insulation has not fallen off will get a picture posted.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...3cf423d3b4.jpg

So of course as I predicted one of the pieces of insulation fell off. The first shot you can see it just laying at the bottom. If memory serves me correctly the small strip that fell off is across the top. Now I could feel where it was sticky still on the panel. So I am pretty sure it goes there. I might have it upside down though. And of course I could be totally wrong. Sorry about the second shot. No idea why it is on its side. I took the picture in the same orientation as the first shot.

Has anyone tried replacing that stuff with Dynamat or similar sound deadening matting?
|
So awesome. Thanks so much. I didn’t think to check eBay. I’m still not sure what I’m going to use to stick it back on with. Likely some type of spray. And idk if anyone has used dynamat but I did see some foil backed cotton insulation at Home Depot that looks like it would work. |
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...4d0d44b3c1.png comes in 6, 24 or 75 foot lengths by 48” wide. They also have it without the foil but only 16” wide. |

Little embarrassed cause I do it all the time. I am not as quick on my feet as I used to be. I am pretty good at research though. LOL

I did some sound deadening in my Jeep. I don't really care. More a turn up the radio kind of guy. It was really my "Well while we are here thing". I had to remove my headliner to install an overhead console. So while we are here. I had to put the Infinity Tweeters and door checks in both front doors. So while we are here. I swapped out all the glass for Factory Privacy glass in the rear doors and cargo bay. Panels had to be removed so while we are here. I opted to just leave the carpet padding alone. Seemed like a waste to use Dynamat there. I did a little write up but have yet to get to the floor. https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f177...sport-4086497/ |
I do have the original and I will be using it. At the moment I have no headliner. That’s in one of the 98’s. The other 98 has no headliner or carpet. Might do some sound deadening if I ever get bored or don’t have anything else to fix on the Jeeps. Lmfao! I always preach the while I’m here thing but by the time I get there I say F it, just need to get it done. |
