91 Cherokee R12-R134 Conversion A/C port size

Hi.

I am attempting to retrofit a 91 jeep cherokee from r12 to r134. I have tried using generic retrofit kits from autozone and oreillys but both do not fit the low service port. (the high end fits but low end is smaller) This is common in pre 94 GM and Chrysler vehicles.

What I need to know is what size the low end service port should be to retrofit. I believe the high end is 7/16 and I am thinking the low end is 3/8 but am not sure and want to figure it out before I start buying more parts.

Please help.

Andre

Four Seasons make replacement service valves for the Sanden compressor with R-134a ports on them. Amazon.com happens to carry them. Rather than use retrofit adapters, I opted to replace the entire valves.
