42re trasmission
 

I have a A-500 42 RE transmission that I just rebuilt it was the first time I ever rebuilt a transmission!! I have done quit a few motors in my time but never a transmissions and I am pretty sure I messed something up and I was wondering if any one can help me out with trouble shooting.

Park is good
Revers bangs into gear
Neutral is good
No drive
No second
No first

I tried tightening up the adjustment on the drivers side of the trans with a 9mm opens end wrench and it moved forward a little but then I lost drive again.

I have a feeling it is the band adjustment just not sure which I should go after?
Drive band too lose?
or
Revers band too tight?
