largest you can go on a 15x7 is a 10.5 wide. For a 12.50 you need at least a 8" wide rim.

I have 33x12.50 on 15x7 right now...just wondering if I need to swap to a 15x8 or just air down with the rims I have to get even wear...money is kinda short, I dont have $$ to buy new rims. I need my new tires to wear correctly I've had them about 1-2 weeks...

I'd air down. That's a big tire for a 15x7. You'll lose some tread life until you can get wider rims, but it's better than uneven wear.

How would I lose tread life? I haven't heard that before...

Running lower air results in greater wear on the tire. Thus, a lower tread life.

Craigslist and JY's. Best ways to get 'em cheap.

Summit Racing has Cragar Rims for $48 a wheel. They come in all different sizes too. 15x7, 15x8, 15x10. They are steel wheels too.

x2. it will actually work fine, except a ridiculous backspacing and making the vehicle more prone to rollover.
you see, the taller the sidewall, the narrower the wheel can be. it only works to a certain extent, but in this case a 2.75" taper per side on a 9" wall is not that bad.
it will keep your tread quite even unless your vehicle is not properly aligned.

If it works fine, why have I always heard to go with a 8" rim for 12.50's - from 4x4 shops even that know they aren't getting my money? Just wondering.

Lol nice. That's why I originally thought it wouldn't be a problem. My buddy mounted them for me at his shop. I've done him many a favor so he didn't complain lol.

Thank you. Alignment is fine...1/8-1/4" toe in. I didn't know about this info. Very useful. Thanks again.

you have a point man, and theres not argument that an 8'' rim is ideal, and in theory i can get why they might be a bad idea especially with the backspacing, but the op said he's broke and i get that too so with a budget in mind a 7'' rim will work, and like i said before when aired down it's known to old the bead really well almost like beadlocks.
