33's 35's stock axles and lockers poll
curioius as to how many people run 33's 35's on a dana 30 locked or unlocked and have broken axles. I would like to know stock or alloys. locked or not and size and your perception of how you drive.

i had a d30 CAD with a locker on 36's and broke a bunch of joints and shafts with a very light foot when i knew she was against a rock. (both sides).
fwiw, almost all my breakage was when i had it in reverse and very lightly tried to back up a small hump with the wheel slightly turned.
not sure what it would be like with 297 joints and a locker, but somehow, i don't think it would be all that much better. some, i know, but probably not a whole lot.

D30 front D35 rear Detroit lockers upgraded axle shafts. Never broke anything on my axles and I wheel hard. I'm not light on my XJ at all. 33" tires 6.5" Rough Country lift. I haven't had a single prob with my axles. 4.56 gears.

Meriden, Ct...........You'll break when turned & bound.....If you wheel N. Adams Mass or anything similiar, it's just a matter of time.........if you're hard on it, on the rock.......once locked you're more likely to break.
I'm from the area, know many of the trails...........my temporary 30 is left open on purpose being on 35's, and the soil here is nothing like New England soil.......(greasey)......I can get away with it for a while....

It is alloy steel. The guy called it "High Strength Alloy Steel" It's actually lighter then stock shafts but being that I have yet to break one I believe it's stronger. I've been through stuff people with 8.25 have broken shafts and I went right through it without breaking anything. A guy in Nashville TN makes them.
I got some yunkyard spares incase I broke them and now they have been sitting so long they are rusted like no other because mine hold up great.
