Who here has a 2WD XJ they've done mods to? I've seen some threads from a few years ago, but nothing recent.

I have one. See me signature for basic mods. I bought it like this. I've since replaced a bunch of stock components myself except for the 4-hole 784 injectors, which I would consider a mod.

I have a list of things I want to do with it, just need to find the time. It will be converted to a 4WD eventually.

Depends how you want to use it on how you mod it.And currie use to make a beefed up 2wd Front axle.You can lift one and do almost anything you can with a 4x4 one.

I've also noticed from shopping XJs in the past couple of years that Florida seems to have an abundance of 2WDs. All the XJs at my local junk yard are 2WD. It's also much easier to find a clean 2WD for sale.

That said, this 1999 RHD 4x4 is VERY TEMPTING:

i have a 93 2door 2wd 4.0 5 speed plan on lowering it some do exhaust and the injectors for now

put a thrush 2 chamber muffler and a stock 2.25 tail pipe so far

My MJ is 2WD. Been running it for three years like that now. The rear locker really helps it go where it probably shouldn't.

I'm on the fence about a 4x4 swap. I decided for it but now I'm seeing it might not be necessary.

I am in the process of upcountry sized lift, 235 Grabbers, radiator, trans cooler, hitch, and I am thinking hard about a locker. Any body have good results with a locker on 2wds?

It's all a matter of preference. My LSD is modified where it never slips but when I redo the rear, I'm adding a Detroit soft locker.

I don't care about clicks and prefer to spend less than more. I am leaning toward a Spartan locker unless I am persuaded otherwise. Don't plan on climbing rocks, I simply want the option of crossing a soft median and getting close to ponds and creeks

I have a fairly strong desire to pick up a dead or dying 2WD 2-door, leave it at or near stock height and do an LS swap.

I see there is a $40 rebate on powertrax lockers so I may go for a no-slip. At that point it won't be much more than a spartan
