ok my 82 j10 seems to really like to backfire out of the exhaust when i rev it up and it is really getting annoying, if i fell like running it through the gears kinda hard it just backfires in between gears loud i know its gonna do it some but its crazyis this common for these? i mean it only has 16,000 orig miles on it

sounds like a carb issue like its dumping too much fuel after you let off the gas and its building up in the exhaust then backfiring

no but i think there about time to replace all of that stuff because it has been parked and not been driven alot, it only has 16,000 miles on it, is there a new type distributor i could get and install thats better than the factory

This. Use a set of plug wires from a mid 80s Chevy 250 c.i. straight six.
