Check out KBB.com, and your local craigslist and see home much a lift GC is going for in your area. Low miles like yours you could probably get $3500+ for it in my area.

I mean i know its a good deal as far as that goes. I am just wondering if that V8 is worth a crap or what drive train and all it has? What problems to expect.

things to watch out for; tranny is much weaker than the AW4 in your XJ, If it is AWD most V8s are risk of bad VC in the TC, rear axle either a D35 or a D44A. The D44 is not the samething as the XJ D44 it is a Aluminum Housing unit. Do some tight figure 8s on the test drive listen and feel for noise and binding in the transfercase, bad VC is $1000 repair. V8 gets about the same mileage as your 4.0, but the extra 30 horses make up for that. That V8 has been around as long and the I6, is basically the same V8 all the 60s-70s SB Mopar muscle cars had. It is long lasting and aftermarket is strong. Lifting up to 3" can be easier and cheaper than a XJ, see Front to Rear swap, lifts above that can get pricey.

How can i go about finding out what rear axle it has? Here is the trade. His has a 4.5 lift with 33's. Mine has a 3in with 32's. We traded for the weekend to test drive. Let me know what everyone thinks. And if anyone knows how to tell me what axle an so on it has let me know please.

I like my ZJ......it has the V8 also. it and the XJ both have their good points.

the full time 4wd 249 TC that a previous post mentioned can be easily swapped out for a 231 by changing the input shaft. Ton of write ups on it out there and 231's are cheap and easy to find.

I think its a good swap. it looks super clean and if you turned out not to like it I dont think youd have any problem selling it for a good price.

nice!!! i would swap. orvis edition is kind of rare. don't let it over heat on you. lots of v8 grand cherokees for sale locally with cracked heads from a one time overheat.

i love the zj though, and that one is very good looking

As far as the axle goes it really doesn't matter as both are weaker than the 8.25 you have in your XJ. Being a V8 it is more likely to be a D44a with a 249 TC. The way to find out is to look at the axle and TC shifter to find out. Plenty of axle Identfication threads to compare to. Orvis is a premium options package, that a good thing.

I'd do the trade. Would make my wife happy, but I would miss my XJ.

I don't think i am going to trade. Its my cousins jeep so i won't talk dirt about it but i just think i will stick with the ole XJ. So i say its time to go up more with the XJ and find some soft 8's and tires.
