I am having problems with my 2000 Cherokee Sport. I have put a tune up on it, new fuel pump, new fuel filters, new plugs and boots. It's cranking over and after about 10 seconds of cranking it finally starts. Sometimes I also get a no bus / check engine light on the dashboard it will make the gauges on the dash board to stop functioning. I'm new to Cherokees but I love it even with all the problems. When the No Bus comes on the airbag light comes on also. Can anybody give me some ideas. I've already dropped over 400 trying to get this problem fixed. I goggled this no bus and it says no communication between the computer. If anybody could help me with this it would totally save me alot of money taking it to the dealership. Thanks

Not sure if it will help in your case, but I'll post anyway. A couple of months ago, I started my Jeep, it started right away, but I got the "no bus" and none of the gauges were working. I shut the Jeep off, started it again, and I still had the "no bus" and no gauges. So I turned the Jeep off again. I pushed all my fuses in (both under the passenger dash and under the hood) to make sure they were all nice and tightly connected, and that fixed my problem.

You may have a loose fuse or even a blown fuse. Not really sure if this could be the reason it takes a while to start, though.
