2" Lift?
 

I have brand new Yokohama Geolander AT/S tires (P235/75R15) on my 2000 Cherokee. I'm thinking about doing a 2" lift.

My question is, are these tires big enough to not look stupid with a 2" lift?

I've been a Jeep owner for most of my adult life, never lifted one, and never thought much about tire size.

I'm looking for a near stock look but, less station wagon, more Jeep.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

They'll look ok but I would try to trade for some 30*9.5

With 2" lift, the 235's will look great, be pretty close to a stock profile but give the Jeep some stance. I wouldn't worry about getting those minimally larger tires, you'll sit half an inch higher with the 30" tires, and they are only 1/4" wider. Heck, I have 235's on a 4.5" lift right now, and I still say it looks damn good. Lol.

I wanted to say, I'm sorry I didn't post this question on the already existing lifts and tires thread. I'm new to the forum (and the app) and am just starting to find my way around.

Why just 2in? Mine as well go to 3in.

If your questioning it, the answer is probably yeah, sell them on CL and pick up a set of A/T or M/T from CL, that's what I did. I didn't like the look of mine on that size tires at 3.5 inches of lift at all, my .02

However my old tires where 225/75/r15 which I think are an inch, inch and a half smaller than yours, what kind of lift are you looking into? Full leaf, add a leaf, or budget boost?

Hmm, I would argue against what a couple of the previous posters said. First, if you are happy with your tires (size, aggressiveness, etc), I wouldn't trade these brand new ones, which you probably paid a fair coin for, for some used Craigslist boots.

Second, if it were me on 235's I would stick to 2" of lift, rather than 3, for a couple reasons.
-You almost certainly won't have to worry about the things which make lifting expensive, such as steering/front end components, driveline components, etc.
-Your fuel economy will be minimally impacted. I think you'd notice a bigger drop in economy going from 2" lift with 235's to 3" lift and 31's, opposed to stock to 235's @ 2".
-If you buy a 3" lift kit with full packs/coils, they will often result in higher-than-advertised lift heights, especially for the first months of use, which for most is fine, but if budget is a concern they can become an issue due to the increased number of required components.
-Finally, your offroad performance will be minimally impacted. Disconnecting your sway bars will have a drastic effect offroad when compared to an extra inch of lift.

Id keep the 235s since they are new. If you can find a trade for some 31s then yes for 30s no.

1.5" lift

Any opinions on this kit?

I have no experience with lifts. I want to do it right. A wheeler friend of mine recommended this for me. And I think the 1.5" vs the 2" might be a good fit for me, considering my aversion to seriously modifying my jeep.

The feedback is greatly appreciated.

RC shocks are one of the worth thing RC sells so I would advise against it if you can afford to spend a little more money on a lift.

Welcome to the forum Skeeter_Leg. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I have 235s on old stock suspension. I bought a 2" OME kit from Rocky Road, but haven't installed it yet. As far as budget goes, if I can't afford to get it right, I won't do it. If the RC kit is s#;t, it ain't goin' on my Jeep. The guy that recommended that kit told me that he breaks his t case in half on a fairly regular basis because he hasn't fixed the drive shaft to ride with his 6"+ lift. Cart before the horse.

Which is better, shackles or add-a-leaf? Springs or spring spacers? What other options are there to consider?
