Default 01 TJ Dana 30 for my 01 XJ

Tried searching around but couldn't find much. I'm trying to find a high pinion d30 for my Cherokee. Found an 01 wrangler d30 but I don't know if it's the HP. Guy selling doesn't know either. I'm guessing it's low pinion?? Why would they have 2 different axles in production for same year?
Do pre 00 TJ 30's bolt in to Cherokees?

Lots of questions, I know. Thanks for replys

Same diff. Both are low pinion. The differences are in the caster adjustment. TJ's used cams at the diff and XJ's used shims at the body mount.

What year did the axles switch to the larger u joints? And can you put a larger u joint axle shaft in say, a 92 with the smaller?

yes the larger shafts will bolt right in. 1990-1996 with either ABS or equipped with NP242 had larger joints. 1996-2001, larger joints was standardized.

Only jeeps with hp30 with coil mounts came in Cherokees up to 1999. No other jeep models had it.

You're looking to drive 3.5 hours to pick up a lp30? I don't care if it were $2 it's not worth the time or gas to get it.

The 91-99 are the best years the older ones used cad which can be upgraded but i would leave those last option.
