Default Spider diff guards

A friend and I fabbed some "spider" diff guards. The dana 30 is only a half cover due to the steering being in the way. Enjoy.

Still need paint..

Man, making the ring is the hardest part, why not just cut some plate and make a HD diff cover instead of a diff guard? Looks good tho.

How would you shape the guard around the diff cover? You need a press to make a difff cover that fits around the gears etc.

The ring is easy, take the diff cover, trace it around it and cut. Mark the holes, and drill.

I really like the look of the spider look. I think it looks a lot cooler than just a cover.

You don't need a press unless you were trying to forge it out of one piece of steel. You just break it up into several pieces, squares and triangles that angle outward from the ring. Cardboard is the way to go and then trace all of the pieces out onto steel. Cut them all out and weld them together and whala, HD diff cover. I'm going to be doing this soon, maybe I'll do a write up.

Sounds like a cool idea too..a plated cover sort of deal. But you still have to cut rings.

Anyways thanks for the feedback.

Looks good. I was actually thinking of doing kind of the same thing but with smaller angle iron.

Good job. They look good and I'm sure they will function "save the cover" nicely
