Something Different

I don't know if this is the right place for it but I did fabricate it so I think it fits. Its not pretty but it works damn good. The two pivot rails are 3/4" thick so they don't flex at all. its all steel and weighs in at about 45lbs on its own. I may have over-engineered this thing a bit. Lemme know what y'all think of it. Literally made this thing bullet proof! :gun_bandana:

I made the tube clamp out of 5/8" thick plates to hold the tubes really tight.

The Bearing block seen here has two double sealed needle bearings in it, and I'm using a Swag Offroad "Super Shaft". I must say the shaft is very well made and I am more than pleased with it. Also added a zerk fitting. It was made from a solid block of 2.5"x2.5" steel stock.

I didn't get a good photo of the pivot I made for it but the clamp and bearing block swivel independently from each other. Also the bearing block and clamp can be moved up or down the rails for different situations.

Here is the first 90 I did with minimal clean up they are great joints!

Here is a 45 I did later, this things eats through the tube like butter!

Not pretty? That thing is beautiful, man. Good job. What did it cost you to build? BTW, Troy and SWAG are awesome. Recently did some business with him and can't recommend him enough, great products, good service and fast shipping.

I'd say with the super shaft included about 300$. But considering the notcher I designed it after is 500$ that's a 200$ savings, and also added some things the other didn't have.

Thanks for the positive words guys, here are some more shots of it, I made a base for it to mount on my vise. I did this since the vise swivels so if for some reason things wont fit I can swivel the vise to help it out.

DSALMON-629 12-30-2013 10:04 PM

I love it! Now I want to build one!

Thanks! I got some of the larger metal prices from sources near me like scrap yards and some work leftovers, but they can all be purchased at McMaster-carr. I love their site and they have an incredible selection. If you guys have questions or want measurements just ask and I'll try my best to answer.

good job !!!

You have a video when it work ??

dharmabum 01-08-2014 06:56 AM

That is very nicely done, I may have to be copying that if I get around to building one someday....

jeep.kevin 01-09-2014 05:49 PM

I'll try to get a video of it here soon. I need to have my friend come by and tape it for me. Not really a one handed operation.
