Default Side Mirror Relocation Mod

Side Mirror Relocation Mod
Ok so it’s getting close to summer and I will be pulling my doors off but I still need it to be street legal to drive around. Since I wacked a tree with my passenger side mirror and now it’s bent and rattles I thought I would just do away with both altogether. Also I’m a college student and I away from home so most of my modifications right now are cheap and easy. This is what I came up with…
O'reily auto parts side mirrors and all hardware cost me about $35 total

First I measured out a good place to easily mount some side mirrors that could still be seen and came up with this (where the tape) is then I proceeded to drill a ½” hole in the fender.

Then I put a 1/2” bolt through with some rubber washers on both sides and added the mirror bracket and tightened it down.

After that there was the problem of the existing screw holes and mirror adjustment cable holes.

So I cut out some cheap scrap metal I had and used a rubber gasket maker kit to make sure it was a water tight seal then I tightened it all down.

Then I adjusted the mirrors and finished! Here’s what it came out like….

So what do you think and yes I can see both mirrors it is tight on the passenger side but still usable besides, that’s what a copilots for right.
Any advice or suggestions Thanks!

Huh...I have a AM General that looks like that. I don't see the advantage of doing it to a XJ ....

You get some Fab points though..

What's not to get? He's going doorless and needs some side mirrors.

Nice Job. I thought of doing that but I think I'm just going to attach them to my tube doors. But if I ever want those off too, I'm thinking of doing something along the lines of this.

Very nice! I like how that looks. I was just thinking of doing something with my mirrors when I go doorless.

Default Make em fold?

You could make them to be able to fold out of the way for when your on the trail. But I like em its probably what I'm gonna do when I finally take my doors off.

I used an old motorcycle mirror from one of my past bikes. Just welded a little tab on it and it bolts to the hinge. I only use it when doorless obviously

They do and can be easily removed for extreme conditions like big trees ripping crap off!
