Roadtrip! Would like a laptop mount for my '92 XJ. Ideas?
Roadtrip in the future. Would like some ideas for a laptop mount for my Asus EEEPC 900HD so I can be jammin to my tunes. Will be traveling with my dog so prefer something not too intrusive to the passenger seat area.
Any ideas or thoughts?
Looked at many laptop car mount ideas, but nothing seems to be kosher for my XJ.. At least the eeepc has a small footprint. Just got the lighter plug for it today too so I can plug it directly into my lighter for juice.

Leave the laptop in a bag in the back of your rig. Put your music on some CD's or and MP3 player connected to your head unit.
Seriously, there are enough distacted drivers out there as it is, please don't be anoher one.

when i HAD TO USE MY LAPTOP FOR GPS LOCATION when i was traveling, i built a REAL simple mount. used some iron pipe from home depot, made a T, that i put upside down and wedged between the seat and console. Used a floor flange on the bottom of the T, screwed a small square of plywood to it, a little velcro, and it held my full size 15" hp computer, even down an orv trail over some whoops!
Cost was about 21 dollars. this wasnt that bad for passanger seat intrusion, but it was a little. You could easily do some simple modifications to get it more toward the middle console or the dash. I also wanted mine not to interfere with my cupholders. If it stops raining today, i will go stick the mount back in the truck and throw the laptop on and take a pic. I also used some 1/2" conduit fasteners to keep it from flopping side to side because the computer was kinda heavy.

I am very proud of the people who spoke up on the lamp top mod !!!!1
No offence to the person wanting the lap top mod.
But My mother was killed in LA while someone was playing office in his car. !

When I worked for Sears as a tech, several years ago, they had mounts inside their service vans. While it was handy, it was more distracting than anything and also hindered in night driving. Between the laptop and cell phone (hands on) I missed a couple of stop signs and one school zone light that the Cobb County PD let me know about (with a warning).
