Here is a project I been working on. To mount my tire and a 5gallon gas can in the hitch on the back of my jeep. I used 2x2 tube stock. Made a lot of measurements and did a lot of test fitting to get it to clear the back hatch. So far everything things works nicely. Added some gussets to strengthen it. Here is my progress as of today.

Thanks! I looked and looked, couldn't find anything like it. I'm just happy I can carry gas and the tire down low instead of on my roof rack.

And it's about done. Just have to figure out if I wanna add anything else to it. Then powder coat it.

I like it. I think I would rather have the tire a smidge higher and closer to the hatch but if you stay on fairly flat ground and don't do anything extreme I'm sure it'll be just fine there.

I had to space it out to fit the gas can behind. Otherwise the tire and can side by side woulda have blocked my lights and plate. This is my second rack I've made and the fist did just fine offroad. It's been through some hairy trails. No issues thus far. We shall see soon though when I take it back out again.

I like the idea of the gas can. I think I will use your idea and put two cans side by side and put my license plate in front of the tire.

Awesome. I'm already thinking about adding another spot for another can. I have shorty cans so it would work perfect.

It will fit perfect right in between.

Great job, I like it alot! Its way better than spending a $1000 for a bumper and tire carrier. How much do you have in the bumper and what brand? You could also put a bracket on the bumper for your license plate.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with it. The bumper is a jcroffroad do it your self kit. I wanna say it was around $280. I drilled into the back hatch so I'll probably leave the plate where it's at for a while. Lol
