Well, I'm pretty much done with the bumper/carrier now. Only thing left is to do is close in the sides of the bumper and under the tail lights, make a license plate mount, get some Jerry cans/Rotopax cans and mount them, and drill the D-ring holes. Glad I'm almost done though. It's come a long way from scrap to what it is now.

The tire plate all welded in place.

The latch plug welded in the swing.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687466524/
The thread plate welded on the bumper.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684228481/
T-handle welded with the longer bolt I bought because the bolt it came with was too short in my opinion. It didn't even go all the way through the thread plate.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684228071/
The latch all tightened and I like how the swing is resting on the thread plate, it keeps the weight distributed off the swing while driving and offroading.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684227919/
I also went in and welded the spindle inside the bumper while I had the 210.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684227737/
Side view of it all together. It's very solid and when the latch is tight it does not move at all when you pull, push, and hang down on the tire plate.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687465578/
And here is a rear view of the whole thing. I like how it turned out, even though I still have little thing here and their I have to do to make it 100% complete, it's pretty much done.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684227307/
Tomorrow I'm going to cut the metal around the tire plate to make it even, make a licence plate mount, weld up the ends of the metal tubes, paint the swing and mount it officially, and I might start to work on filling up the gaps between the bumper and the body and under the lights... if not, I'll just fill the gapes at a later date.

A little word of advise.......I would highly suggest a secondary latch or lock with the A to Z kit.

The t-handle comes loose on bumpy roads. On my first prototype rear bumper, it came loose on the highway and swung open into the side of the jeep. Lucky for me, there was no one next to me.

Looks good though!

Thanks!

Yeah I know, I've been thinking and looking around. I found a latch pin type setup that I am thinking of putting by the spindle so when I close it it can be a secondary latch, but also when I open it, it can be a stop so it will not swing open into other vehicles.

Well, I got my swing all done and mounted, that's all though. My grinder went out and I had to go get a new one so I didn't get to fill any gaps in the bumper itself.

Filled in the ends of the carrier. (and cut the piece behind the tire plate so it was even)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684226919/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687465118/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684226861/
Here is a temporary licence plate mount. When I get some Jerry cans/Rotopax cans, I will make anther mount.

And here is a view of the LED light on the plate.

I will get some more pictures tomorrow in the daylight. Also whenever I do the other odds and ins to the bumper/carrier I will post of what I do. (Drill the d-ring holes, fill the gaps under the lights, mounting Jerry cans/Rotopax cans, and remounting the plastic side 1/4 panel pieces... and whatever else I do.

Yes, I am going to put the 55w fog lights that I had on my stock rear bumper on this one.

I must have missed it, but what did you use to cut the holes in the 3x5 for the mounts to come through? Debating tying mine into the frame the same way yours is done rather than mounting to the stock spots.

If you are making a tire carrier, in the long run, using frame tie-ins will make it stronger and last longer. I have seen other people just use the stock location and over time it just cracks the stock mounting location on the back cross member.

But, I just used an angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the holes, and for the tie-in to come out the back (D ring location), I just did multiple cuts side by side till it made it big enough to make it through.
Holes in the back.

Holes in the front.

then I cut down the the 3x2 so only a side would come out.

Hope this helps!

Been a while huh... Didn't mean to take this long.

In that time I got a new 31x10.50 stock spare tire, never touched the ground, off a TJ from my dad's co-worker. It's a lot better than the warn ~29" Toyo A/T I had as my spare. Got 4 wheel parts to mount it when i went in for my annual warranty rotation.

The tire.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684219349/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459042/
Nice to finally have the same size full size spare.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684223985/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687461590/
I also got a new 15x8 spare rim from my friend that works as a body shop that replaced it on a TJ just because of a tiny nick that's hardy noticeable. Not I have a 31" tire on a 15x8 rim to match just in case I have to use a spare... won't look too bad or drive funny fromt the difference.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687474276/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684236401/.
.
.

Well I finally drilled out my D-ring holes and put my D-rings on the rear. *I'm off next week for spring break so I might try to get the bumper done and stop procrastinating, hopefully.*

1" drill bit. Already had it drilled to 13/16", did that a while back.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687460982/
First hole drilled. Two batteries and 50 min.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684222579/
Another Two batteries and about an hour.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687460722/
Both drilled and painted.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687460576/
D-Rings on.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687460282/

Still have a lot to go on this. Have to build up and cover the sides, make light tabs, put rubber stops on the swing, and build up under the light. Also have to make a catch for the swing, I already smashed my passenger side light and broke a tab, so it needs to be done.

Well, I got some I got a little bit done to my bumper over spring break (two weeks ago, just forgot to update) welded up the splits in the welds.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684222313/
Then while I was making the light tabs to put my rear lights back on (after a year of not having them). Our grinder went out again... I need to get a real grinder, wish my dad still had all the parts to our old one (it's about 10 years old) that only needed a power cable... But it being apart so long he lost a piece and it won't go back together without it. Oh well.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687460314/
The cut tabs.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687457556/
The tabs with the 96 and back Cherokee lift gate stops in them. Fixing to weld the nut on the back. Going to use them as a sorta stop to reduce the shaking of the swing.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459984/
Since the grinder went to crap, I used some of our air tools and our really low power compressor (not even for air tools, hints why I don't use air tools even though I want too. Not enough pressure for any good use) and ground off the paint to weld the tabs.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459850/
Well, not the best welds. Been a couple of months since I welded and our flux core welder takes some getting used to to get right... and I had to 1/2 way learn again as I was going.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459780/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459770/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459630/
Lights mounted and I extended the wires I already had ran to the back so they could go on the wring.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459484/http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9684221293/
And I finally have rear lights again.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9687459346/
Here is the Rubber piece I used since I noticed I didn't have a picture of one.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/100936816@N02/9710025201/
Wish I could of done more but when the grinder went out it pretty much through the damper in me getting anything big done. I was already working on the light tabs so I finished them and might of done something else but had other things come up where I couldn't work on it anymore. I will get it done though, that's for sure.

Yeah... That's the joy of Facebook changing their pictures so much, every time you load the page some are missing and others are not and it's completely random because they don't use a solid link anymore, it's randomly generated.... I'm surprised any of them show up.

Thanks, glad you like them.

But I do have the pictures and they are uploaded on another site with a stable link that should never change. Give me til Monday night and all the pictures should be switched out with working links. I'll be doing it in the 5 1/2 to 6 hour break between classes, the school internet is much faster than my home internet so it will go faster.

I'm slowly but surely uploading and switching all my pic links to Flickr. I've already done my Cowl hood thread (started with Flickr links), I've already done my Rock slider thread, all that's left is this and my build thread (That will take forever... not really looking forward to that) but this one will be first to go, then my build thread.

Here is a link of the rubber piece anyway, I'll post again on monday when I get all the pics switched out like I did on my Rock Sliders.
.
.
.
.
.

Actually... I don't. I thought i had a picture of it but I guess I never actually uploaded one, much less take a picture of it. I'll snag one this weekend and put it up with the rest of the pictures Monday.

Just as a heads up, I'm still not done with the darn thing... I still have to seal the sides, add a safety latch so when it opens it stops at certain spots and doesn't just swing open and break my tail light (already done that), build up some plate under the tail lights and cover the sides and maybe put a lover 1/4 guard on it (if I don't buy one.)... Just been too lazy lately... well not really I build my Cowl, just haven't felt like messing with it because I would have to make the part and what I don't get done I'd have to leave on there paint it and then the next day clean it all up and work on it, then seal it all back up and continue til it's all done.... So i really need to do it on a weekend so I could get it all or a majority of it done so it doesn't look so weird driving it... but i have stuff planned most weekends so I haven't had a chance, plus with College football coming up... Yeah, ya get the idea, like there is a game tomorrow so I won't get any work done
