Yes, I am going to A-frame the upright and I do plan to fill up the extra swing with a jerry can mount. Also whenever I get a hi lift I will incorporate a mount for it somehow to the swing.

Awesome job. If I had to be negative about anything though it would be that hitch.....I integrated my reciever into the center of my bumper because it hung up on everything when wheeling. Nice work though.

If I wanted to, I could of actually done the same. My dad has a piece I could of welded in the bumper to put my ball mount in. But I like the idea of having my bumper and hitch separate. Also, I would of needed a big drop hitch if I did that and would of liked to keep the one that I had when the jeep was stock, just flipped over, and it seems like it will work out nicely. Also, With the hitch you put less stress on the bumper because if the hitch is on the bumper, the ball is pretty far out and puts a leverage force of the mounts of the bumper, and if you tow big trailers like I do, you don't need that much stress on the channel mounts.

I had about a hour or two to work on it today so I got a little done.
Welded a thicker piece of metal to the upright so I could have more metal and space to weld the tire plate on.

Started welding the A frame for the upright.

That's as far as I got today. Don't know if I will be able to work tomorrow, or Monday. but I will if I can. Also, Tuesday I probably will not get much done because I'm going to 4 wheel parts at 2pm for a tire patch where I had a nail go through my front driver tire. and I didn't think anything could penetrate the Grabbers... Oh well, still a really tough tire, and a tough tire to penetrate.

The build is looking really good man, this has inspired me to get one done myself. I deffinantly can not justify spending 400$ and up to get a swingout bumper when i can make one myself for much cheeper... How much did the spindel run you? Apreciating the pictures too keeps the build exciting.

No Problem, I take too many pictures to begin with anyway.
Well I did get to work on it yesterday (no pictures) but I didn't get any further in the build... in fact, I lost about 3 steps. I completely scrapped the main swing arm. It warped while I was welding it and I tried to straighten it out, but just made it worse. So I cut the A-frame off of it and got some thicker steel and started to cut a circle on the end of a piece to go on the spindle. Hopefully I can get the main swing arm build and the A-Frame welded all back together today...using clamps and another piece of metal to keep warping down.

Well I got pretty far today, as far as I thought and hoped I would anyway.
Here is the A-Frame cut off the old warped main swing bar.

Here is me welding the new main swing bar.

And here is the A-frame welded back on the swing bar. I had no warping this time, so all I have to do now is weld the latch system on, weld together a safety catch, and weld the tire plate on then I'll be done... at least until I get some Jerry cans or some of the Rotopax cans.

Very true, the cheapest bumper/Tire carrier combo I've seen is the new Smittybilt one that should be released sometime soon for $799, but other than that they are $1000+. And the spindle I got from AtoZ fabrication, they have just the spindle for $49.95 standard or $74.95 for the Mega-Duty Spindle. I would get the Mega-Duty Spindle. They also have a Swing out Kit, witch is what I got, comes with Spindle, Tire plate, and latch system. $92.95 for the Kit with standard spindle, or $117.95 with Mega-Duty Spindle. (I got this one.)
