With a modification such as this, is it ok to run your existing shocks or should you now go shorter? I want to do this but I'd rather not buy shocks again since I just replaced them less than a month ago.
^this.
You'll have to measure bud. It's all relative to lift and bump stops. I don't recommend using your shocks as compression stops.

After I raised my mounts like my picture above, I definitely need shorter shocks, I only have about 2 inches of up travel before my shocks bottom out. Instead of getting shorter shocks, I am cutting up through the floor and fabbing up a rear shock mount hoop that goes between the "frame" rails right between my relocated gas tank and my rear seats. I'll probably end up with longer shocks than when I started

Clearly those who are flaming about blocks aren't from California, because here in Modesto you would all have a stroke everyday as you drove around and witnessed the millions of "street queen" 4wd Chevys fords and dodges with 6" and sometimes 8" cromed out lift blocks!
Like my grandfather told me when I lowered my first truck, "nice work Gary! Now your truck can only haul your lunch box!"
Back on topic here, that's a very clever idea!
