2 Attachment(s)
So I've been running a boa extreme front bumper for the past 2 years or so
Attachment 227699 Just got a winch though so its time to fab a new one Attachment 227700 Here's what I want to do: - Stinger bar - Use the fog lights from the last bumper - Accept a winch obviously - D-ring mounts - I'm going to try to keep it as low profile as I can |

So here's what I have so far: The winch plate and mounts are 3/8" and the sides are going to be 3/16. Here's a very blury cell picture of one of the mounts
Attachment 227701 Here's the winch plate with the winch and one fog light Attachment 227702 And after some cutting and welding last night this is where its at Attachment 227703 Attachment 227704 Attachment 227705 |
Looks good.
Just wondering why a new bumper? Already had a winch bumper on it. |
The first bumper was a wrangle bumper. In order to use a winch with it I would have had to mount the winch behind the x-member and build stronger mounting brackets and besides, I wanted a new one :P
|
Well that makes sense! Haha. Just seen it was a winch bumper, so just wondered.

Picked up the stinger today from a friend who bent it for me. Its 2" tube, 3/16" wall :whistling2: Couldn't weld it on right now but clamped it on to see how it looked

Looks good im cutting my brakets tomorrow.
|
looks nice. What kind of welder did you use?
|
Looks great. Question for you and any other bumper gurus on here.
I'm going to build one this year and I've always wondered why winches are always bolted to the bottom plate instead of on the front vertical member? For example, why not secure the winch to the vertical section of this L instead of the lower section of the L? Wouldn't the later put more strain on the mounting hardware? |

Now that I think about it, the closer it is the least amount of strain on the hardware. Think leverage like in a downward pulling situation |
