Ordered the one ton kit from ruff stuff.
Got the one ton tres and 1.5 at .25" thick dom tubing.
Going to run this otk attempting to not relocate the track bar( I know I know) but it looks like the angle will work out so far.
So here we go.
Get your box

Attachment 252989

Open it

Attachment 252990

Put it together for fun

B
Attachment 252991

This specific kit needs to be cut down and have the inserts welded(we will get to that later)
pull your jeep in the garage and take the wheels off

Attachment 252992

Laugh out loud at stock steering

Attachment 252993

Go to store and buy 50$ worth of drill bits:( (if your using inserts it's 7/8 for the knuckels and 1" for the pitman arm)

Attachment 252994

Start drilling and cuss out loud at the knuckle for being a pta to drill

Attachment 252995

Cut sway bar links off and steering stabilizer tab

Attachment 252996
Rest after this and post up in fab on CF.
That all I got right now guys, getting back to it in a bit

Rogue4x4 09-08-2014 11:33 AM

Agreed, Duma...I have the 1 ton setup from Serious just waiting to go in, watching this one for tips and tricks, LOL

It wouldn't be a PITA to drill the pitman arm if u had a drill press. The knuckles are easier to drill, u would be surprised. (It's cast iron)

Yeah the pitman arm absolutely sucked!
Got the steering 90% done. Had to trim more off coil buckets.
They still hit though.

Attachment 253026

Hits the track bar a tiny bit almost to full lock
And that evil pitman arm set up drill thing

Here's how I cut the tube,
I extended both tres and mocked up the tube. Marked where it was, and did the same thing with the tres pulled all the way in. Just cut in the middle

Attachment 253023
Got the tie rod mounted( nothing welded yet)

Attachment 253024

Then cut the drag link Dom the same way.

Here's it together fully but not welded yet

Attachment 253025
Angles actually don't look bad:D

I just did Serious 1 Ton steering & took the knuckles & pitman arm to a shop & they drilled all 3 for $30.00. Best $30 spent in a long time.

Good luck with the OTK setup. Looks like it'll be a tight fit...

that means I'd have to send you mine! haha. shoulda waited and ordered all at once so you don't have to pay shipping twice

I don't think you're gonna kill a schoolbus full of kittens on the freeway or anything. but it'll definitley have some bump steer

Lol, do you put the axle side mount on the inside of the passenger uca mount? Or do you have to cut that off? Cause if you don't have to cut that off I probably have enough dom to make my own if I use the iron rock bracket and use some 1/4" plate for a axle side bracket.

Atmos 09-08-2014 10:02 PM

The axle side mount fits between the UCA and the coil bucket. You don't have to cut the UCA mount off. but you still want your new bracket to be as beefy as possible and still fit which is why people buy premade brackets. I've had to recover someone from the trail who had a poorly installed OTA bracket that ripped off. Not a fun day.

Actually I drank beer and watched him do it. But you get the idea. Brace it well and burn it in hot if you DIY

Done guys!
Here's it welded

Attachment 253205

And here is it with the paint drying

Attachment 253206

And done!

Attachment 253207

Touches almost at full lock to the passenger side coil bucket

Attachment 253208

Don't know how it feels exactly cause I'm in the middle of setting my new adjustable upper control arms and in the middle of doing a hack n tap sye...but without the front tires on the ground or tires on it at all it feels much tighter and smoother lol
