Very cool

I like it. I have the ZJ backseat in mine, that would bring it up even with the seat folded down.

That's pretty awesome!

I like the uniqueness!. How much does that old oak weigh?

Ty! The planks themselves were light and fairly dry during instal. All together roughly 30-35 lbs?

The cuts are flush w/ the stock backrest. I'd be afraid the upgrade would leave a gap. I'm considering building wooden seat in back like a park bench or Adirondack.

Looks really nice, excellent job!

I have always wanted to do this but at the same time I like having carpet because it keeps things from sliding around too easily in the cargo area

Torn because this looks so nice :D

Dissecting good flat oak wood shipping pallet boards might be a good source wood for this.... They are thin enough to just pull the carpet and screw it in... Toss a piece of see through carpet "runner" in on top when you need stuff to "stay put". :)
