Default My winch bumper

This will be a couple day project, but I figured I'd start the thread and update it as I went along. Didn't get to far tonight, but it's at least started.

Here's what the Jeep looked like this morning:

Removed stock bumper and got started on the following design. It's been slightly tweaked since drawing it up, but you'll see that in a couple days.

Stared by ordering a set of tie-in brackets from JCR. Just a note, if you ever buy these, be prepared to hog out the bolt holes they already put in the brackets.

From there it was making the bumper mounts.

Ground down the corners a little and fastened them up to the tie-in brackets.

That was it for today as my dad and I got a late start to it. Tomorrow brings cutting more pieces and test fitting them in place.

The back plate went on and then the winch plate

Cut out the lower front plate and welded on the d-ring tabs

Next came the side gussets for supporting the top plates

Got both sides done with that and called it a day.

Got the top plate for one side welded all together and sanded as well and put in place just to see how it would look when it goes on tomorrow.

Haha, thanks! My dad thought it'd be funny to draw the grill and lights on the cover. I wasn't about to stop him.

yeah that cracked me up seeing the drawn on grill. I gotta do my bumper. previous owner just scabbed some tube to the stock bumper to look like a stinger.

Yeah, I waited way too long to start this project. I'm glad it's finally happening. I love having something that NO ONE else has. Hopefully all the pieces will be on tomorrow, which just leaves final welds, grinding, and then painting.

well mine is sittin in my shop with a mostly finished rear chop job and is lifted the wrong way with stock steering at such a bad angle that an alignment is impossible and the bump steer is incredible. so it can wait.

i wouldnt trust only doing three bolts to a side to keep that bumper on, expecially if ur wanting to put a winch on it
