Um, please tell me this is a trail only rig. Just my opinion, not sayin my word is gospel or anything, but that is so not how I or anyone i know would do that. It is however, very creative

i am buying a cone filter today. I then plan on making some kind of cover for the filter out of maybe a bowl or can to keep the rain and mud off it. I amy also cut down the stack some. This is not a DD the most street driving i do is to the trail and back. Do you guys think its bad? Is it going to get hung up or something? Hey jeepfan93 how would you do it? Thannks for the input guys

i like it it is creative if it was mine though i would since you went into the cowl right there i would have just left it in there i think i've seen someone on here or another forum that did that and it worked out pretty good, but if it is your dedicated trail rig and you don't mind the sound i would route it into the cab like through the glovebox or something then you wouldn't have to worry about it at all
if mine ever retires from DD status i'm thinking thats the way i'll go

Here is how i finished it. It has a cone filter under the pot. I used a flower pot and painted it with truck bed liner. It is kind of in the way of the passenger but it works great. I went through tons of mud and water this weelend and no problems. The highest water i went through was probably a foot and a half high. The reason i did this mod was after i got done wheeling the mud a few weeks ago the jeep stalled. I pulled the cover off the stock filter and then the filter and found about a inch of mud and dirt on the bottom of the filter box and the filter was completly blocked. So i did this mod so it would not do that again. It works great. I think total $ for project was $24 for filter $3 for pot, $13 bucks for 3 inch pvc, and $9 bucks for 90* and 45* street elbows. about $50 bucks total and about 2 hrs labor.

might seal off around the pipe going into the cowl... this is where you AC and heat pull air from... even if you dont use either... itll keep mud and stuff from clogging everything up (wheep holes) and rusting out...
