Luggage Rail Mounts

Has anyone made mounts that connect to the stock luggage rack rail?

If your talking about attaching a roof rack to them, I think lots of people use small U-bolts

check out jcr offroad they make gutter mounts for home made racks and if you are talkin about bolting a rack to the cross bars use u bolts

I am talking about a set up where you would remove the luggage bars and make a bracket that installs into the luggage rails which run from back to front.

just pop the end of those rails off and the cross bars will just slide off

Yes I know but I would like to fabricate a mount to use with the rails after I take the cross members off.

Sure have, just finished my roof rack a few week ago and mounted it to the rails. My rack is only 50" wide but if it was wider I would have bought the gutter mounts from JCR Offroad. Can't make them that cheap and not worth the time unless you already have the equipment and scrap material on hand.
More pictures of my rack and mounts in my album and feel free to ask questions.

Nice rack! I am hoping to come up with something that would allow me to keep the rail covers on. I have seen safari racks mounted to square tube cross members. The square tubes use metal brackets which mount into the luggage rails and you are able to keep the rail covers on.

What your talking about is Thule or Yakima mounting "towers" or "feet". You can usually get them fairly cheap on craigslist or ebay.

I use 8 Thule towers and 4 crossbars that are gutter mounted.. they also have the facory rail style.
