LED lightbar mounts

So I just finished makin my lightbar mounts and just thought I'd share it in case anybody wanted to use the design or anything. So for the main brackets I milled em out of 1/4" aluminum. Then for the bottom clamp piece I milled a piece of 5/8" aluminum down the 1/4" on the top part, then a groove down to 1/8" and 1/2" wide to fit the gutter then I left the bottom section 5/8" to wrap under the gutter. To clamp the mounts on, I threaded two holes into the 1/4" bracket and bolted it on. Then for mounting the actual lightbar, I cut the mounting brackets it came with down and put them on the back of the brackets and bolted it up. I think it came out pretty well and it's real sturdy, when ya push on the brackets it shakes the whole car and the brackets don't move at all.

thanks haha! And I was actually considering sellin em but I'd need to get like a few people interested and I'd see about gettin em water jet cut instead of just millin em all out myself which takes foreverrrrrrr haha

Regardless of your decision, great work. Keep us posted.

They look very similar to the ones made by Inspired Engineering right here :). Turned out very nice!

Is that a 50 or 55-inch LED light bar? It seems wider than 50.

I am also INSANELY curious how you routed the wiring, could you show pictures?

it's a 50" but it actually measures about 52 from end to end and as far as the wiring, I followed the advice of one of the guys on this thread and drilled a hole in the roof, put a rubber grommet in it, ran the wire above the headliner over to the driver side a pillar then down the a pillar and through the firewall and into the engine bay and it seems to work really well

zumer715 08-06-2014 12:29 AM

And I don't have any photos of runnin the wires above the headliner or down the a pillar or anything but I could post some of where it goes I to the roof if ya want?

Sure!

Can you show me where you put it into the chassis and where it comes out into the engine bay?

So I just used a rubber wire grommet for the hole in the roof and for running it through the firewall, I just used an existing rubber boot which I had already poked a hole in to run the wire for my amplifier and in the engine bay, I just brought it around following the engine harness to the battery

I gotchya. I was thinking about running my wire down the windshield rubber (you can tuck it underneath), and then going through the fender through the door crack somehow.
