Talking Foot rest project.

I made a thing, guess what it is.
I miss not having one on my XJ so I made one (almost finished).

Well that didn't take long. Bsulli is correct and LOL at you other guys.
When it's done I'll show you more. I'm thinking I will glue textured rubber on the foot rest area. The angle looks odd in the pic but it feels correct in the XJ.

Thanks! One thing suprised me as I was mocking it up with sheet metal. The firewall is not square to anything so I needed to make the last bend (top) at an angle. 3/4" across the 3" wide steel. Good luck with your's.

That's pretty sweet. I never really felt the need for one in my XJ though.

Maybe you never drove a car/truck that had one? I think once you get used to a dead pedal aka foot rest you will miss it when you don't have it. It's nice to brace yourself on a steep down hill and keeps your foot alittle closer to the brake pedal for those "Oh Crap!!! moments".

Oh ya, I have, my car and my truck have one. It's a good idea for sure.

I agree, ever since I had my last car i've felt lost without a foot rest. My leg cramps up otherwise on long trips. I've noticed the firewall thing as well, very strange. I think I'm going to ****** one of the plastic ones from the pick-n-pull and mod it to fit up. I'm hoping for something like this.

Thinking about "producing" them and selling 'em?

It was a fun project, not really hard to do. I need to practice my welding though, you can see from the photos my welds were rather cold. I'm sure the welds will never break given the low stress but I couldn't sell something with such poor welds. That's what happens when the weldor is to lazy to change out his .024 wire for the .030 wire sitting in the weld cart (thicker wire = more current = hotter weld).

Hell, even if you don't wanna produce one, I wouldn't mind "contracting" you to make one. Lemme know how the fitment is. Oh and, i don't know how to weld so I can't do a lot of the things mentioned on this forum.
