I'd find another way to secure them that has an actual latch not a little spring loaded ball.

I also bought some clip pins. The plan was to lose the ball and drill a hole all the way through and stick the clip pins trough them. It hasn't been a problem yet, but ill probably get on it next weekend

well imho... they look weak.. the weakest link is the pin and the area above the pin .. not alot of material... you would be better off welding that solid and undo the nut holding the whole thing on and drill & pin it like the ones you buy
