I did that just yesterday. It took about 3-4 hrs. Too bad there is so much fluff.
ya, the ring around the outside was starting to chip the clear coat and i didnt really like that it was chrome/silver/whatever so i just taped if off the first time and went to town. the second time i did it, after i scratched some of it off wheeling, i just peeled off the ring and sprayed it all again. it blends between coats and so much more evenly than paint. i just did my kc housings and my third brake light. ive started a trend around here. everybody is doing their rims now.

After driving around with my hi-lift inside my jeep on the floor right at the back near the hatch opening I decided to build a bumper mount 20 minutes before I drove 2240 miles from Southern Ontario to central Alberta. I needed the space because boxes wouldn't sit flat on it.
I eyeballed my hardware bucket with two lower control arm nuts/bolts sitting on top. I remembered some scrap steel I removed from my 03 ex cop Crown vic push bumper mounts that had holes already drilled in them. Then two sleeves from the control arm bushings on my sisters cobalt. Some how all of the holes fit the lower control arm bolts perfectly.
I welded the 3/8th plates to bumper horizontally and then the 1/2 plates with the bolts in the holes to the 3/8 plates vertically the sleeves on the bolts and then the jack on after with the nuts. Some black paint and a bicycle lock to prevent a quick theft. The 3/8 plate only to add more weld surface area vs only a small area of the 1/2 welded to the bumper. I beveled the 1/2 to make sure I got a good strong weld to the 3/8. I'm sure the 3/8 and 1/2 are overkill but I didn't have time to cut up and drill the 1/4 plate I have.
I turned the gas off when I bolted it all up and forgot to turn it back on when I tacked the bolts in place so they are comprised of boogers. Actually all of the welds look like butt because its dirty but they were actually pretty nice. The zip ties keep it from rattling. Sorry about the crappy pictures.

The last pic I took in Fargo ND.

Here is my cupholder mod. I cut 4 slits in the can coozy and put elastic around it. That way they hold cans, cup and 20 ozs tight. Probably could have done a better job cutting but they work awesome. Still needs to be trimmed out. And yes I know, console is dirty but its a jeep. You should see the outside!!!

Police type console and ammo lock box for radios, siren, switch box and locking up pistol and ammo. simple mod, chop the factory console in half and bolt the police console to the floor. no e brake handle! but the 4 years i used this setup before i retired, i never needed or used an e brake.

Galls, gov deals, ebay ect. mine came from an old county sheriffs car.
search for emergency equipment installers in your area or radio shops, they almost always have a few used ones laying around, along with police type push bumpers and police partitions.
if anyone wants a grey half console, i got one! cheap, lol
