I machined a slot in a hockey puck to use as a winch rope stopper for my newly installed winch.

Thanks guys. It seemed like the perfect, least expensive solution. I actually now have some delrin available to me but I like the little bit of squish the hard rubber of the puck provides.

I got a great deal on a VR8000-S winch from Rockhard 4x4. Also they price matched on a Hilift. The puck was the final touch on installing the winch in my Rusty’s front bumper. The Hilift installed easily onto the provided mounts on my Rockhard 4x4 rear tire carrier bumper.

I had to make an adapter plate, you can see it between the fairlead and the bumper:

Found a nice spot in the engine compartment for the control pack. Required making new cables out of 4gauge:

Added a wireless remote so I don’t have to open the hood to operate the winch. Best place I could find for the wireless controller:

Hilift on my Rockhard 4x4 rear bumper:

All in all happy with the Rusty’s bumper, the winch and my installation choices:

Looking great. But I don't know if it counts as home-brew.

My modified factory bumper with pod lights mounted inside. That took some metal loss to make happen. YETI 2.0 is a work in progress...but aren't they all? Lol
