I wonder if anyone out there has a Novak Gm-AX15 adapter laying around.. I am in need of some dimensions.. i am wanting to make an adapter out of steel and make it .400 inches thinner to allow the mating of
the old GM bellhousing/LS1/AX-15 transmission without having to purchase a 400 dollar flywheel.. ANYONE??? Or anyone have one for sale??

I dont think an ax15 wil hold up to the power. Just because novak sells the part doesnt mean it is a good idea.

Does the AX15 not hold up to the power of a stroked 4.0? I dont intend on rashing the crap out of this thing.. Just something to use as a support vehicle for a few friends of mine with Buggies and such.. I like to watch idiots tear their stuff up and then beg me for a pull with the winch.. That was the purpose of my old rig.. A K10 with a PTO winch and wrecker boom.. I would drag all the idiots out of the mud and rocks.. Granted it would go beyond anywhere i wanted to go or had the ***** to go.. I just would rather be the dependable one that people call when THEY are stuck..

I think a better choice would be the nv3550 or a nv4500. The 3550 came behind the dakota's with a v-8 so they hold up a lil better then an ax-15.

If I did I would be in my rig, or have plans for it to be used in one of my rigs.

As for if they are holding up to a stroked 4.0, I dont know of too many ppl who have had their 4.0 to truly say how the ax 15 holds up. I do know of ppl who are swapping out there ax15's after a few yrs of hard trail use.

Lets say this.. I read in several places that the AX15 is stronger than a T5 BorgWarner 5 speed.. I am running a T5 BW in my El Camino which i build with the purpose of beating the crap out of it every time i drive it.. And it has close to 400 HP.. Everyone said that it would break, but it hasnt.. It has been in there for 2 years and still shifts like new.. They said the same for the 7.5 rear end too though and it is still in there.. And i concider myself to be EXTREMEMLY abusive to that car.. What im saying is that it is all about how YOU (in this case me) drive the car. I take good care of my stuff and fix it as i go.. Dont run things that leak, keep fluid levels where they should be.. And such.. Also i have an NV4500 available to me to use but wish to stay with the AX just to save a little weight.. I am trying my best to keep this rig light, all i have to pull it with to far away trails is a gas powered 1500 Sierra 2wd so weight will be a problem. If i break the AX i will replace it right.. But for now the questions stands.. I am looking for the dimensions of or to buy a used one of the adapters..
