Default first attempt at welding and making a roof rack

took me three days but i finally finished my roof rack first time using a welder and basically working with any type of metal

cant wait to see the finished product, im really diggin the tire carrier, wish i woulda done that with my roofrack.

First attempt at welding?! That looks pretty good for a first timer! Im also diggin the square tubing. Will it be mounted to the rain gutters or the factory roof rails? You should post the dimensions up. I just fabed up some rain gutter mounts like on www.jcroffraod.com and looking to start building a rack myself.

Very nice work. But I think you have more welding experience than you admit to. Or you are a natural.

tough to see the welds from that far away and whether or not the joints look good but looks great from this distance. Are you concerned about the tire being a big high with that mount?

thanx for the compliments fellas but i should mention that i borowed the idea from tactical40 lol i just made some slight changes to it but it should b done this weekend gonna paint it tommorow ill post pics when its done. the tire carrier is from my old swing arm of my bumper only about 2" of the tire is above the top rail of the rack i can always cut it down to make it smaller.

Default Finished up the rack and mounted it

ok fellas finished up the rack and laid down three coats of dupont bed liner onto it i also got a chance to mount it on the car as u can see i wasnt to busy at work lol

looks good dude!!! hopefully yours is lighter than mine!!!!!!!!!!!!! i went with WAY too thick square tubing but the rain gutters will probably give out before the rack breaks! lol!
