Fender Flares
 

Anybody made any fender flares? not a fan of the garden trim.

Garden trim? Are you referring to Protekto?

I'm about to do it cut my fenders and slap on some Protekto trim, myself. The only thing I'm debating is how to keep crap from going through the back of the unlined fender and into the door jam. Some dude on JeepForum used a pool noodle, but that's about as industrious as a 4th grade science fair.

Thought about using an insulated spray foam?

Cut out a card board template that fits the gap between the fender and the body. Transfer to sheet metal. Make some 'L' brackets to attach to the fender and the body. Screw the filler panel to the 'L' brackets. I have been meaning to make some up, just haven't gotten around to it. Really need to, as I keep getting sand in the door hinges.

Whatever you do, do not use spray foam. That **** will rot out your jeep fast. The foam traps moisture against the steel.

Did not know that or even think about it. Probably a good thing I didnt do it! lol

I've seen spray foam used in cars for stopping rattles. Makes for a nasty rust mess later.

It works, that's what I'm running. It looks good if you take your time to make it fit right. Get a black one.

A pool noodle works pretty well. At least that's what I've heard. Personally, I run no flares and nothing between my door jamb and wheel well
