dropped track bar mount?

Was wondering if this is a normal thing on a cherokee with a 3 or a 3 and a half in lift? This is my first truly lifted jeep and was wondering if this is going to be a weak point and what should I do about it?

I'm not to sure about them but from the little I do know I think it would be ok. How does the jeep drive?

The jeep drives like **** with that mount broke, there is play the wheel real bad from like 10 to 2 there is nothing and when I hit 40 I get this death wabble thing that sounds like the jeep is fallig apart. I am assuming it is all from this mount its the only thing I could find wrong with my steering so far.... ill get it fixed and let everyone know if it fixed the problem or not

yea I would assume that would be your problem. Like I said before though I'm not to knowledgeable on it but I am pretty sure thats your problem. Hopeful someone will chime in with more info

stop driving your jeep until you fix that or get rid of it if its broken. if you lose your track bar, its really hard to steer with the axle just flopping from side to side. i almost died when my rustys track bar broke!!

those drop brkts are just stupid. if you are gonna have a drop on the track bar, make it on the frame side. the axle side just puts it into the rocks.

and you can bet your paycheck that the broken tb drop brkt is the cause of your death wobble. i would get a double shear track bar set up with a new frame side brkt and take that old (procomp?) tb mount off.

:gun_bandana:procomp.

Yeah im not driving that one I have another 96 cherokee as my daily driver, but yeah I bought the jeep that way and didn't find out about the bracket till I took it on my first drive and noticed the DW but yeah I am planning on getting a new track bar but there so expensive does anyone have any suggestions on what track bar to get? Again the lift is only a 3 or a 3.5 inch lift from sky jacker

I hadsomething like that on my jeep when I first bought it. It still had the stock track bar on it so that was just a mount that helped drop it. NO problem there. My jeep drove just fine with it

Im sure my jeep will run fine when i get if fixed but like Hudfabxj said with that drop hacker on the axle it puts that bracket as one of the low points on the jeep and will surly be a magnet for rocks

Take that God awful thing off asap and just re-drill the hole 3/4" to the right of the stock hole and that will re-center the axle properly.

I have this exact same bracket i dont have to big of a problem with it but i also had the wobble at about 45 mph and mine was just steering stabilizer bushings were shot so that might be somethin to look at but i dont find problems with my bracket i havent got it caught on rocks or anything

ericfx1984 03-11-2011 08:19 PM

wait... why is that bracket lowered? that would make the steering angles worse...

it would make more sense to mount a bracket like that above the original one

I actually have never seen of anything like this before so I am baffled I do know that when I get 300 bucks im gonna get and adj trac bar but all the info I can get the better I love learning all I can about everything that has to do with fourwheelin... but I do agree with most of you it doesn't make sense to me and I am gonna fix it lol

Dan91 03-12-2011 09:56 AM

Exactly what ericfx said. A drop bracket on that end of the trackbar would make angles worse...what the hell? lol

RENIXBEAST 03-12-2011 10:16 AM

The reason for the bracket is to re-center the axle after the lift was installed. Its the really cheap way of doing it. Just drill the factory hole 3/4 to the right and ditch the bracket. Another option is an adjustable trac bar, Ive been running this one for years with no issues http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Jeep/X...TB&part=RE1600.
